Features of rate of reaction are given below:
1. The rate of reaction is equal to the change in concentration divided by the time interval in which that change has taken place.
2. The rate of reaction can be expressed in terms of any reactant or product.
3. As concentration of reactant decreases, a negative sign is used to express the rate of reaction in terms of reactants. As the concentration of products increases, a positive sign is used in terms of products.
4. To make the different expressions for the rate equivalent, the rate expressions are divided by the Stoichiometric coefficients present in the balanced chemical equation.
5. The rate of reaction at any instant of time is equal to the slope of the tangent to the curve between concentration of any reactant or product versus time at that instant of time.
