Hydra is a fresh water cnidaria which has lakes and ponds as their habitat. It consists of tentacles, mouth, manubrium, stomach, testes, bud, peduncle and basal disc. The tentacles help to catch the prey. It is sedentary and moves by looping and somersaulting. Their mode of reproduction is both sexual as well as asexual. Asexual reproduction occurs by budding. They have higher power of regeneration. Their basal disc helps to attach to the substratum. The digestion of the food is carried in the stomach. There is a growth region above the stomach region. The most distal region of hydra is known as manubrium. It has mouth which is surrounded by the rings of tentacles. They can be bi or unisexual type. Bisexual have both the male and female reproductive organ in the same individual while unisexual have separate reproductive organs in the different individual.
