Explain the hirudinaria granulosa of annelida which belongs to non chordate phyla?

The hirudinaria is also known as cattle leech. It may occur as a free living or parasite. It is a free living in ponds, streams and rivers. It acts as a parasite on cattle. It feeds on blood and has an anticoagulant known as hirudin. It attacks the domestic animals and it moves with the help of muscles. It is hermaphrodite which shows cross fertilization. Their development is direct. Their body is flat which is divided into 33 segments by the grooves. The segment is divided into rings by annuli and their number varies in different segments. During breeding season a clitellum is formed at segments 9, 10 and 11. It has couple of suckers which are anterior as well as posterior. The anterior sucker encloses the mouth which helps in feeding and locomotion. The posterior sucker lies at the end of body. There are multiple eyes present on the dorsal side and have a small opening known as anus which is also situated on the dorsal side. The ventral side consists of male and female genital aperture which lies on 10 and 11 segments respectively. There are 17 pairs of nephridiopores on the ventral side. They act as a food source for fishes and birds. They are used as surgical agents for curing diseases and are used as bait for fish.
