There are many latitudinal zones on the earth. It includes the tropical zone, temperate zone and the polar zone. The tropical zone is also known as the Torrid Zone. It occurs between the tropic of cancer and the tropic of Capricorn. The sun rays are vertically overhead during some part of the year. It has the maximum temperature as compared to the rest of latitudes. The polar zone is also known as the Frigid Zone. It occurs around the poles. In the northern hemisphere they extend up to the Arctic Circle and in the southern hemisphere they extend up to the Antarctic Circle. They do not receive the sun rays and the temperature is quite low. The temperate zone occurs between the tropic of cancer and the Arctic Circle and the tropic of Capricorn and the Antarctic Circle. The sun rays are never vertically overhead during any part of the year. The duration of sunshine is more and so is the angle of incidence. These latitudes are not as hot as the tropical zone.
